Pineapple Shawl

I saw a shawl similar to this on Crochetville. The lady had made it up and there was no pattern. I loved it. So I studied the pictures and came up with my own version.

Back of shawl:
Front of shawl:

Yarn: Red Heart Worsted Weight... Color: Aran... About 2 1/2 skiens (18 oz)
Hook: Size H

Pineapple Shawl - Cape

FINISHED. yes finally. I'm calling it more a "cape" since it looks more like one to me.

Pattern is from Celtic Vintage Crochet. (yes this is a thread pattern that I turned into yarn--thanks to others who have done this shawl)
eta: from Crochetville: You'll be happy to learn that she's set up a new yahoo group: would bet you can find the old patterns there, including the one you used for the Pineapple Shawl.

Yarn: Red Heart Worsted Weight Yarn, White. 2 1/2 skiens (approximately 16 oz)
Hook: size H

I left off the edging, decided I liked the way it edged itself. I just sewed closed the top of the pineapples (you can see that in the 3rd photo below).

The pattern isn't the easiest to follow if you've never done pineapples before. Some have even rewritten the first 4 rows. It's not impossible or hard, so can be done (obviously).

Here are the links to this as WIPs
Pineapple Shawl WIP when I started it, so the first few rows
Pineapple Shawl WIP Photo 2 more to the shawl/cape

UPDATE: I took this cape and put it over my window as a curtain... might stay (opinions welcome)... it gives you a better look at the cape too... Cape to Curtain (link).

Mesh Bag Finished

I slept pretty good last night and woke up way too early and had time to start a new WIP
I started this bag because on Crochetville they have a St. Patrick's day CAL (Crochet A Long) and in this group someone decided to do just basically a GREEN type call along with St. Patrick's day items. So I thought a cotton mesh shopping bag.
Pattern: Crochet A Day Calendar, May 2006 (adapted to fit my preferences and yarn choice)
Hook: Size H Yarn:
Peaches & Cream in Geen Multi
So it's not big enough to be a shopping or market bag, but it's big enough to be a WIP bag and it's a good first mesh bag to try. I see where I would change a lot (I all ready did).
FINSIHED! I was able to finish it at lunch. Okay I couldn't fasten off, didn't have scissors with me.... but other then that it's done. I will only have 2 ends to weave in, first and last. Here's a pic with it and you can see how small it is with a regular size sheet of paper under it.
Here it is stuffed with my cone of yarn and my little notebook, so it does stretch if I needed it too.
I was thinking this bag might work good to hold my other market bags in... or wips... or shoes... or...

Nothing new...

Nothing new to post. I did 3 more squares on my Blueberry Pie Afghan, well 2 with black boarder and one center circle. I joined one. I discovered they're about 6 inches so if I have the 6 I want for the width, that will be 36 inches, which it is about now. I think I'll keep it that way and then see how much yarn I have after I make it long enough (not sure how long is long enough for this one). Haven't worked on my else this week, been busy and tired.

Blueberry Pie Afghan Started

I am working on my Babette... but I needed something to do at lunch that would be easy to do at work. My Babette is mostly putting squares together and adding some rounds to the 4 round ones and making 2 rounds ones. That I need to do at home when I have more time and the full blanket there to refer to.
I had the yarn from the Cathedral Window afghan that I wasn't going to do, staring at me. I decided to start a new afghan. I'm not really following a pattern, it's kind of a combination of several patterns. I just did DC in the round and used Front Post Double Crochet. Then I did the black in sc, hdc, and a corner of (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc). Here's a close up of one square:
And you can see from yesterdays circle that I thought something was odd....

Yep the dye lot. Aparently not enough blue to make a dark blue... just on the inside of the skien. So I guess I could use the circles for something else (coasters...)...

Black & White Round Ripple

Finally finished this weekend. Needed to I'm giving it this week.
Pattern: I used Angie May's Round Ripple (she's a member of Crochetville and I pm'd her for the pattern)
Yarn: Red Heart, back and white. 2 strands of yarn held together.
Hook: Size N, 2 strands of yarn held together. I did 3 rounds of black, 3 rounds of white and repeated that color layout.
Size: not sure, I didn't measure it. I think it's big enough.
Yes, I played around with the picture again trying to make it look better... not sure if I did, but that's fine.

Giant Granny Square WIP

More on my square (well rectangle). I did 2 more rows of Lavendar (purple) and 1 more row of white. This is a very easy pattern and is nice to do when you need something relaxing to do.

You can can see the progress from the previous post

Has pictures to show you step by step.

Again I'm using Red Heart Worsted Weight yarn
Size H hook.
Colors: Lavendar (purple) and white.

Pineapple Shawl WIP Photo 2

Even though I'm not done with it and am going to work on it some more, I wanted to see what it looked like on and post a photo here. And since I decided I was done with a skien of yarn, this would be a perfect time to take a picture. I have just a little left of the skien but since the next row is the 14 trc in those ch 5 loops (the center shells between the pineapples) I decided to start a new skien.

I am loving this look. There are 2 more pineapples around the front of the shawl.
I have 2 more rows of pineapples to go.

The previous post (2-12-08) has the link to the pattern and more info if you missed it.

Pineapple Shawl WIP

Yes another WIP.
But I loved this idea so much I couldn't resist. I've been seeing pineapple shawls and someone had taken a doily pattern (chair back) and made it into a shawl using yarn. So of course I couldn't resist.
I couldn't decide on color and thought white would be pretty and I could wear it with anything.
Using Red Heart Yarn, Size H hook. So far I haven't used much yarn, but I have plenty. Yes I went on a yarn shopping spree last night and bought some white and some purple for my Giant Granny ... (I have to have some sort of "yarn shopping spree" even if it is only 5 skiens ;).
Pattern is from Celtic Vintage Crochet.

Granny Square Afghan WIP

Don't mind the messiness of it... lol... I took it real quick this morning when I remembered.

I want it longer, so I'm going to keep going. It's about 43" wide and about 50" long. So I want it longer. I wouldn't mind it being wider, which it will be, so that will be great.

Size 3 Thread Doily

Thread: Size 3 (I think Aunt Lydia's, it's from Walmart)
Hook: Size F
Pattern: Crochet Today Sept/Oct 2007... changed: didn't do the last 2 rows of hdc and dc before the shell stitches (glad as I was running out of yarn)
Close up:

I was going to post some bookmarks, but the pics didn't end up very well. I'll try again tomorrow... ugh... They weren't too bad with the size 3 thread. A little thick, but not bad.

Elegant Shawl

From the LionBrand website.
Pattern: Elegant Shawl
I changed it.
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver Worsted Weight, It took about 1 1/2 skiens of RH yarn. Nope, not very much. Oh I didn't do all 30+ rows. I did 28 which was enough for me. I liked the size.
Color: Orchid
Hook: I
Front of shawl Close up of stitches. I changed the last row. I did not do the chain on the last row, so on the row before I did just a sc between the puff stitch sections.

NEW PHOTOS--updated March 2012.  Wore it today and took some better photos.  These are more pink tink, but better stitch definition.  It is more of a purple/orchid color.

Heart Filet Shawl in Yarn

Back of shawl I did. I used the filet chart from this pattern at I didn't want to start from the top since you had to chain like 200 chains. LOL I didn't have the written instructions printed so I started it with an I hook and RH yarn in Pedal Pink. I then realized it was giong to be BIG, so I only did the main heart pattern. Since I wanted it lower on me, I sketched out some hearts to go across the top. I did the boarder they had for the shawl. This was a super easy pattern.
Here's the front of the shawl.
