Sampler Square #6

[clickable for a larger photo]

Just a simple, easy granny square. Nothing fancy. But I want that. Actually some people do have trouble with these and I did too when I first tried one. I remember it said "rep 3 times" and I ended up with 3 corners, how was that possible, it was suppose to have 4? Took me a while to figure out how to read instructions and that the first corner was formed at the end. Actually I think the instructions I followed weren't written very well. And there really wasn't a good photo of the granny square. I thought they looked easy. Once I caught on, they were.

Marker for Hook Size on WIPs

Because I always work on various projects, I needed a way to mark which hook size is on which WIP. This way I don't need 20 hooks LOL. Or even 5. This is on a project I used my H hook, the same one for the squares.

I got the idea from a lady on Crochetville.

It's just a safety pin and a letter bead. Real inexpensive to make up.

Yarn Holder Idea

I finished using the 75 disinfecting wipes. Had this empty container that is recyclable but thought it could be used for something.

My yarn fit in it!

This is a partially used 7oz skien of red heart. I'd say maybe 5oz or less. And it will keep it from gonig all over (except rolling in the container LOL).

I'm thinking the smaller ones I bought would be perfect to store little balls of yarn.

Snowflake #8

This idea was taken from a rose sachet. I only did the first round of the rose and only 6 pedals and then did the rest of the snowflake. I really like this one. I may try the entire Irish Rose for a snowflake, I think I've saw that before.

Used a size 2 steel hook.
Size 10 thread.

Sampler Square #5

This square comes about when you can't sleep. Find a magazine real easy and start crocheting. After 2 nights of being up in the middle of the night, this is the result.
First the close up of the center because that's the way Photobucket put it... and I'm not good in the html edit section of here...

Then the entire square.

Pattern: Crochet World August 2003, Bright Blossoms Afghan.
I of course used one color, in the afghan pattern just about every round was a different color. Round 7 seemed like it was a mistake because they mention skipping a stitch that was used about 3 rows below... I didn't finish reading the round so maybe it's fine. I just decided to do sc around and then rows of dc.
Size H hook
Red Heart WW yarn in Lavendar (as usual).

Square size: 12 inches.

Sampler Square #4

[clickable for larger photo]

Sorry for the poor photo. Took it quickly this morning, thought it was better then it was. But you get an idea.

This was just one I made up, but very similar to the one in the 63 Square to Crochet for an Heirloom Afghan #15. Instead of the cluster I did a DC DEC. I realized it was a cluster after I did one by mistake and took it out. But left all of them as a dc dec stitch in the corners with a ch 3 between them. I thought I might do this square, but wasn't sure and last night didn't want to do the one I printed from the internet, wasn't interested in a harder square. This one is very easy.

Sampler Square #3

[clickable for larger photo]

Using the first 6 rounds from this pattern:
Then knowing I wouldn't do the rest I just made up the rest.

Used my Size H hook.
Red Heart WW yarn in Lavendar.

I may be able to get one more square out of this skien, but not sure. I might just do a basic granny square with it (I want to do one in my sampler afghan). So if I can get 4 squares, I'll need 5 skeins. I have a few, I'll pick up more to have 6 skiens just to make sure I have enough yarn.

Sampler Square #2

[clickable for larger photo]

Finished my second square. It's called the "Awareness Ribbon" square.

This one I did the 8 inch for the pattern, then added 2 more rows to make it fit. I'm thinking starting the ribbon later would have been better for this color. Maybe.

This pattern has an 8" and 12" version.

It's not too terribly difficult to follow the pattern though.

Again a size H hook, RH WW yarn in Lavendar.

Sampler Square #1

I decided at lunch I have time so I'm going to work on a sampler square afghan. I've always wanted to do one, but I did most of the 63 Squares to make an Heirloom Afghan as dishclothes, never go the second book (More Squares), and got lost on the first square of the 63 Cable Squares. Plus that's 63 is a LOT of squares, although doable. Maybe one day. For now it's these.

I thought 12" squares would be easier. And I'd only need 20 squares for an afghan.

I was able to do this one in under 45 minutes, so it's a good square if you need something fast.

This square was suppose to be 10" but with my crocheting so loose, it is 12". So I'm going to have to watch the squares I choose.

I used a size H hook.
WW Red Heart yarn in Lavendar color.
Pattern from: (she has a pdf document with several size 10" squares).

Snowflake #7

[clickable for larger photo]

This is snowflake #7.
I used size 10 thread, Size 2 hook. Made up the pattern from what I remembered seeing before.

I am going to have to stiffen these for sure. Especially the ones I used a larger hook on. They're real lose and don't hold their shape. I thought I could do that now, but will probably wait. I was tempted to make another one but it was getting late and I was finally tired.

Puffy heart

Clickable for larger photos

I made this heart and was going to make it an ami with eyes and arms and legs, but didn't. So this is it for now. Maybe next year I'll try another one. I just made up the pattern. It's just done in sc and then I left the ends to sew it together after I stuffed it. I used Red Heart yarn and I think a size G hook, usually I go down to that hook if I'm making something stuffed because I crochet loose and this keeps the sc tight.

Snowflake #5 and #6

All clickable photos for larger photos

This first one was done with a size 0 hook, size 10 white thread. Just made it up. Not perfect, but that's fine.

This second one is size 2 hook, size 10 white thread. It was a doily I started, then cut the yarn because I started something else (not finished...) and so I just made it into a larger snowflake.

Flower Bookmark

Here's a flower bookmark I made (photos clickable):
Close up:

I made this as an apology for a friend who I had forgot to do something for. She said it was fine and it turned out not to be a big deal (to her and what I was suppose to do), but I still wanted her to have the book mark.

Size 3 thread
Size F hook.
Pattern made up.

It fits a paperback with the flower and round end hanging out of it.
