Green Scarf

Another scarf to add to my collection. Couldn't decide if I want to keep it or give it away.

Pattern: From a sweater. I used the same stitch.
Yarn: Simply Soft Eco in a green shade (sorry can't remember the exact name).
Hook: a crochet hook (lol, I made it a week or more ago and finally weaved in ends this morning, so I can't remember...)

The entire scarf and a close up of the stitch:

Wand Tree Animal

On Ravelery I'm a member of this group for Harry Potter (I've mentioned it before). We make items for "classes" at "Hogwarts". Our Herbology class was something that relates to the tree our wand is from. Using JK Rowlings tree list, mine is Holly. I coldn't think of something until 3 am this morning when I couldn't sleep. I had a few ideas, but nothing that took. Yes it was due today.

I added this little story to what I made:

A while back the maker of my wand let me see the tree that my wand came from. When we arrived, we saw muggles look at it and pass it by. The maker said that there’s a special charm on it so muggles won’t do anything to these special trees. When we got to the tree, I saw this little animal. I looked at the wand maker and asked him about it, and the wand maker said he didn’t see anything. I looked back and it was gone.I’ve researched a little and found that other witches and wizards who aren’t wand makers have seen them. There’s no official record of them, though. From what I’ve learned, they live there to protect the tree. The live off leaves and any bugs who don’t belong on those particular type of trees. They live near the top and match the leaves. They only respond to the wand makers.
Using my memory, I made this little guy.

Bell Charm Crochet Necklace

I made this necklace in reference to Harry Potter (yes again, it's a Ravelry group I'm in). This is in reference to the book/movie Half-blood Prince. In it a lady, Katie Bell, brings a necklace back into Hogwarts and it's cursed.

Since her last name is Bell, I found a bell charm I had for another necklace (which has about 8 charms on it) and used it for this necklace.

Pattern: The crocheted necklace is just *ch 4, 2 dc in first chain*, then work *ch 3, 2 dc in first dc* and repeat the last part over until the necklace is the length you want. I did 2 parts and then put the charm on one end and sewed the other end together. It fits over my head easily.
Yarn: Size 3 silver thread with a silver strand running through it.
Hook: Size F.

Crocheted Back Scrub

I got the idea from a lady on Crochetville. She did one and so I did one. I thought it was a great idea.

I did use Worsted Weight yarn, to help exfoliate. I've saw those long plastic handle ones with plastic bristles (sounds harsh to me, but maybe they soften up). And even other types of back scrubbers like this that aren't as soft as cotton yarn would be.

I used puff stitches or cluster stitches, I can't remember I crocheted it over a week ago. Bascially something that would puff out. the other lady used the *trc, sc* so the trc puffs out.

I love this back scrubber. I just bunch it up to use it like a puff for the rest of my bath.

Necklace--entirely crocheted

Okay except the cotton balls used in the 'beads'.
I used size 3 thread throughout. Size F hook.
This has been a WIP for ever. I found it today and finished it. I think I was going to make more 'beads', but got bored or soemething. I couldn't remember what "chain" I was going to do. Used the Extended Single Crochet as the 'chain'. I joined the beads as I crocheted.

Personal Happiness

Okay no photos, but just some chatter.

A friend who has a facebook page has a photo page of her things that make her happy. I LOVE that idea.

  • I of course would add crochet :) maybe some yarn and a hook.
  • Some chocolate.
  • Something for friends and family.
  • My little Moleskine notebooks.
  • A pile of novels.
  • A sunny day.
  • A pillow for a nice nap.

I'm sure there are more, but those are some.

I just though I'd pass this idea on to my blog readers. You cold do it on your blog, maybe once a week, create a post of what makes you happy. Maybe a part of Thankful Thursday (which I haven't done forever)... If you do this, please comment on the current post I have up and I will take a look (if it's for public view).

Star Necklace With Crochet Strand

This has a bit of crochet in it.

The center strand is crocheted with beads throughout it in a few spots. You'll also see the strand of thread I used and just tied knots to secure the beads to stay in place. Same thread I used for the crochet strand.

Hook: Size f
Thread: Aunt Lydia's size 5 fasion thread, silver

Necklace Chain Crocheted

I made this necklace chain. I used a silvery yarn (sorry forgot to write it down). A size 3. Used a size F hook. Just did 3 dc until it was the length I wanted (okay the first stitch was a ch 3, but you know that if you crochet). I attched the yarn to the pendant with a sc, putting the hook through the hole.

Antibacterial Gel Holder

My old one, the teal green one there, the yarn broke on me. I had it for a long time, so understandable.

I had to make another one. I ended up not going over the entire bottle because I wanted to see how full it is to make it easy to know when to refil.

Yarn: Peaches & cream cotton, light blue, small amount
Hook: Size G
Pattern: Just two chain stitches into circles and sc around them.

2 Cotton Coasters

I made these for my mug at work. I wasn't sure if they would fit, but they just barely fit. I figured I'd make them in cotton so they can work good if I spill or if the bottle is wet.

Yarn: Peaches & Cream, Light Blue, left over
Hook: Size H
Pattern: Just made up, circle pattern with picots on the edge.

Ice Bottle Cozy

It's been hot so I drank some ice water from the ice I froze in the bottle. It would "sweat" and get all over my hand and table. So I quickly made this cozy for it.

Yarn: WW yarn, left over, probably REd Heart Super Saver. In an Aaron or off white color.
Hook: Size J (what I had near me)
Pattern: Just made up, a circle for the bottom, worked in back loops for the first round for the sides and then both loops until it was the size I wanted.

Snowflake (I think #18)

Here's another snowflake.

Yarn: Size 3 thread
Hook: Size F
Pattern: Just made it up. Probably similar to my other ones, I just made a quick one.

2 Scrap yarn Granny Squares

These are two from a pile I have. The rest aren't finished (well some are). But here are two. These are just the basic granny square with scrap yarn. I've been making these on and off for a while now (over a year, maybe 2 years). They're great stress square busters. I was thinking as I was making these around 3 am, that I need to get a bag together with the ones not finished and put them, a hook, scissors, needle and black yarn in a bag in my car. Then I always have something to do.

I'm using a size G hook (but I crochet loose).

Red heart super save yarn.

I think most are solid colors. I was starting that but can't remember if I made any that were in verigated colors.

What Harry Potter Wand Are You?

Took this for fun. You can take it too if you want.

What Harry Potter Wand Are You?
Your Result: 8.5" Mahogany, Dragon Heartstring

Your wand is surprisingly short, with a sturdy, but not inflexible wood. Dragon Heartstring is a common Ollivander core. Your wand is ideal for Transfiguration.

11" Mahogany, Unicorn Hair
14" Holly, Veela Hair
12.5" Yew, Dragon Heartstring
9" Willow, Phoenix Feather
11.5" Yew, Unicorn Hair
10.5" Ash, Phoenix Feather
11" Ash, Hippogriff Talon
What Harry Potter Wand Are You?
Quiz Created on GoToQuiz

I also took 2 other quizs. And found the chart JK Rowling used for wands -- this uses the birthday. Mine is Holly. Then I took 2 other and I got Dragon Heartstring on both. But I can't get a good length. One said 12" this one above said 8.5". Maybe somewhere in between? 10". That sounds good.

So 10" Holly, Dragon Heartstring.

So not really close to the one above, but it was a starting point and helped give me the length.

Doing this for a ravely group (HPKCHC) that's Harry Potter related.
