MP3 Cozy

Just something quick to put my Sandisk Fuze MP3 player in when not in use. I still want to make the Owl one, but this works for now.

This is super easy if you have one (or a cell phone) you want to cover to keep protected. I just chained the length, did 3 sc on each end of the chain with sc down each side of the chain (one complete round of sc). The first 3 sc produced an extra opening for my earbuds (perfect). Then I did rounds of dc. I did the last row in sc because it would fit better and not be too long.

Yep, my player and earbuds are pink. They only had a pink player and later I matched the earbuds to it.

Silvery Snowflakes (#23, #24)

I decided to try some snowflakes in some silvery yarn I have. It's kind of hard to work with for large projects. I only made two. Let me know what you think.

Thread: Size 5, Aunt Lydia
Hook: Size F
Pattern: My own.

Slippers for This Year

I love making slippers for myself every winter. They are quick (done in under 2 hours) and easy (from a pattern I made up, but simple stitches).

Yarn: Red Heart in Teal. I used less then a skien.
Hook: Size H
Pattern: My own.

Southern Blend Doily

Finished the doily. Blocking too. I'll post both pictures so you can see how it looks.

Size 3 thread.
Size F hook.
Pattern: Souther Blend, from Decorative Crochet November 2004. I didn't do the same edging because I didn't want to... ;) ... so just a sc on the edge. But I like it.
Size 15"

I did these at lunch after finishing a doily (I'll post that after I block it).
Size 3 thread.
Size F hook.
Just make up the pattern. 3 rounds on each. Not very big.

Crochet Socks

My latest pair I finished Saturday. I had one done and the second started so this is good.

I used Bernat Jacquards Baby Yarn, I think it's the "boys and girls" color yarn.
I wanted some more socks with blue in them (I wear a lot of blue).
I used a size D hook.
I really didn't follow a pattern, I made up the foot and leg, doing one row of sc and one row of dc. I did a FPDC and BPDC for the ribbing on the cuff. Afterthought heel.
I didn't try to get the color scheme to match, figured it would be okay. And I like them. I wore them Saturday and love them.

Q&A

Since I haven't done one for a while and In true copycat style, I am taking my lead this morning from something that I found over at Sweet Mama Jones ...

1) What assumptions would a stranger make about you based on the books you read or have read? That I read a lot and a lot of different things (actually I don't read them that fast, I just get excited to start a new book)

2)Do you like taking naps? of course

3)What's the worst thing you've ever done with your hair? Not much. Except 1 1/2 years ago, I cut it from below the shoulers to above the neck and ears. Kept it that short since.

4)If you could change your name, what would you change it to? probably nothing else. Use to think of other names, but then I discovered it really doesn't matter. People may treat you different, but if you are who you want to be, then they will treat you that way. Same with kids, they treat kids the way they let them self be treated so naming them something unusual or usual doesn't really matter in the long end.

5)Do you own an object of sentimental value? My mom's wedding ring (she passed away 19 years ago). It's a small diamond, but worth a lot to me.

6)Are you a night owl or a morning person? Morning person. Of course now that I'm getting older... really neither... go to bed early and sleep in is bliss.

7)If your house were on fire, what material possessions would you grab? My journals.

8)What is more important to you? Photographs, scrapbooks or journals? Journals. They contain thoughts that others don't have.

9)If you saw someone commit a crime, what would you do?Duh, call the cops.

10)What songs do you sing in the shower? Nothing.

11)In what ways are you still effected by childhood problems? Shy and don't like to talk in public. Body image problems (just like just about every other woman I've discovered).

12)If you could find out the truth about one thing, what would it be? I don't know.

13)You are grateful for your body today because: I can walk, talk, see, hear, touch, etc.

14)How would you cope if you lost everything you own? cry. one step at a time. cry.

15)What makes you laugh? other people

16)What makes you feel guilty? saying 'no' to other people. buying something expensive. buying more of what I have (like more yarn).

17)Under what conditions would you approve of abortion?Wow, thats a heavy duty question. First off, I don't think its my place to approve or disapprove. But rape or incest.

18)Were you ever in any school clubs (speech, drama, etc.)? drama in 8th grade (total disaster, luckily we also did the year book) never had any lines (of course since I couldn't remember then anyway).. no I have no idea what I was thinking! ... band, but last chair if any, never marched...

19)Describe a favorite childhood friend and something you did with her or him. Kim. Use to get together when our parents were getting together and we would try to have fun.

International Crochet Day Sept 12

It's a Saturday, so you have a good day for this day.

How are you going to celebrate?

*crochet in public

*make yourself something

*make something for someone else

*charity crochet

*teach someone to crochet

*learn a new stitch, pattern, technique in crochet

*wear a crochet item out in public

*make a card for other crocheters you know with crochet applique (of course someone mentioned that there is all ready cards... joann's gift card... micheals gift card... ;)

I haven't decided what I'm going to do. Probably crochet like I do all the time LOL. I also crochet in public all the time. That's the main goal to get crochet out there for those who don't know.

*Maybe go to a cafe where you can sit and crochet.

*A park if it's safe, maybe take your family and you crochet.

*Plan a party were everyone brings something and you crochet while taking with people.

Please see Jimbos blog for more on International Crochet Day

Doily

Another doily. I used size 3 thread (my favorite).
I started following a coaster pattern and then added some rounds to make it a little larger.

Forgot what size it is, over 10".

Size F hook.

Bath Puff & Cotton Cloth

I used a basic Irish Rose pattern for the bathpuff, but I didn't fasten off and sl st back to the beginning to work the other side (yes it's double sided). I didn't want to fasten off.
The cotton cloth is just single crochet.

These 2 items will be part of a bath set gift for a friend. I saw the yarn and liked the colors.

Peaches & Cream yarn. Can't remember the color, but it has lime green which I liked (and matched my hook I ended up using).
