Butterfly Embroidery

Finished and forgot to post. Want to decorate my bedroom in a butterfly theme, in an adult way, and this is a start.

A few pictures from previous posts about the stitches for those who missed those blog posts.

First picture without flash, last with flash. Not sure which is better, so I'm posting both.

Sun Bonnet Sue Embroidery

From Better Homes And Garden Embroidery 1978 book.  I didn't have a graph paper, so this is free hand drawn on paper, then tracing paper, then on the material.

This is on my bathroom now.  My bathroom is blue and yellow. Since I have white daisies in there, I added white to the yellow flower.

Fly Stitch Embroidery Sampler Started

Started a new sampler. The Fly Stitch.

The flowers are done with two small fly stitches.

I doodled some ideas, this is a small picture of my doodles.

More unpaper towels

I needed more so I made some more.

Same as last time. Flour sack cut in half, then cut in thirds, then used my edging stitch on my sewing machine. This is from one flour sack.

Unpaper Towel 5 More

Five more unpaper towels. I just stitched the edging that needed it. Decreased the stitch width on these.  From 5.5 to 4.5.

With the one I did earlier, I have six. Used a flour sack, cut in half, then each half in thirds.

Open Chain Stitch Embroidery

Trying a new stitch. Not bad. It locks when I finish the last stitch. Otherwise it is easy to undo. Happened when I messed up. Had to start over.

As I'm working on the butterfly, I realize it didn't totally lock the last stitch. Needed to go back and lock with a stitch, the last 2 corners. Making a note in my book.  It's the 1978 Better Homes And Garden Embroidery.

Floral Squares--New Crochet Afghan Started

I wanted to make an all white afghan, sort of like the old fashioned size 10 thread bedspreads. I couldn't find one I like. So I bought some yarn, worsted weight.  I had one patten, but frogged that. Found a 6 pedal flower square, but you had to fasten off and I didn't want to. I also didn't like the stitches in the pedals.  So I drastically changed the pattern and did a granny around it.

Keep me accountable. I want to finish this.

I left a long end to sew together for less ends to weave in.

Using a size I hook
Red Heart Worsted Weight in white.

Unpaper Towel

The unpaper towel.  Saw this idea on Pinterest and went to the blog. Not a bad idea for a rag. Just cheap Walmart towel, cut in half, then in thirds. Used my edging stitch and decorative stitch.

Crazy Quilt Block Finished

Previous entries have pictures of each embroidery section. This is the finished piece. I think.

Crazy Quilt - Dating

Even though I just started this, I dated the square for today's date. No reason why each square can't be dated with the date you finish the piece.

Crazy Quilt -Match Decorative Sewing

I did an embroidery design to match the decorative stich from my sewing machine. Well it sort of matches.

Leafs and Flowers on a Crazy Quilt

Added an orange flower and various leafs.

Post Stitch Rib - Crochet Dishcloth

A dishcloth I worked on when I couldn't sleep. This is a one row repeat.

The stitch is called Post Stitch Rib. Front post double crochet and back post double crochet.

Used a size K hook and I crochet lose.

Tiny Embroidery Butterflies on my Crazy Quilt

Did 2 more butterflies. Also a variation on the featherstitch.

Hand Embroidery Butterfly on Crazy Quilt

Decided to do some hand embroidery on my crazy quilt pieces. I'll leave the thick seams to me sewing machine decorative stitches.

I used the blanket stitch on the outside wings, both in white and turquoise.
I used backstitch in light green,  then wrapped it in dark green.
