Embroidery Sampler Stitches

If you decided to start this here are some tips I found by doing.

--Make a boarder. This way you will know where to stitch and if your fabric is pulled slightly off, you will know what is straight. I did the stem stich for the boarder.

--You can start anywhere, but if you'd like to see an improvement,  start in the upper left hand corner.  Of course is more fun to just stich anywhere. Plus you can challenge yourself to fill in open spaces.

--I used the Frixion erasable pen because you can iron off the ink from the fabric.

--Try some with a guide of a pen, then without.

--Use different colors for same stitches.

--Add color to stitches competed.  Gives a different look and it's fun to see it evolve.

--Leave mistakes, but feel free to add some other dominant stitches. You're leaning and it'll show improvement.

The stitches on this part were bad, except the cross stitch.  I was trying a new stitch on the red and couldn't get the hang of it, so I tried something else and it didn't work either.
The green boarder stitch, I tried to add another color next to it (blue) but it didn't work out the way I thought it would. I added a yellow to make it look more like a ladder stitch with different colors.
Really this picture is just to show the pen and the marking I did on the fabric.

Zentangle Coloring

I've been seeing a lot of adult coloring books and finished items. I decided to add some to my zentangle I did last month. The paper is white, not sure why the original is yellowish.

Embroidery Sampler Letter E

I did a large cross stitch on this.

I used my previous letter as an idea on height and divided it up be 5, since that would work perfectly for an E.

I found it easier to make boxes to do the X's in.  I tried without, but it was too hard for me to eye it. I'm looking at different making pens, but this pencil will fade.

Quick dishcloth for today. I rotated the photo because I liked the way it looks.

And some flowers for my mom's grave and my dad's parents grave.

Large One Granny Square - Crochet WIP

Still crocheting this. Long term WIP (work in progress). Not sure how big I want it, but since less and less rows per skien, I don't think it'll get much larger.

Here's a close up.

Size J hook
Red Heart Yarn

Embroidery Sampler Letter D

Stem stitch for letter D, done in cursive to practice loops.

Embroidery Sampler Letter C

Used a satin stitch for the letter C. I chose not to outline this letter to practice the stitch by itself and see how it's done later. Plus it required more concentration. Not a perfect C, but I'm OK with that.

Embroidery Sampler Letter B

This one is larger then the A, but is a sampler. Plus I'm just relearning and just having fun.  So these will not be perfect.

Back stitch.

Embroidery Sampler Letter A

Just a simple letter to start with.  Stem stitch and one french knot.

3 strands of embroidery floss.

Inexpensive kitchen towel because it will be framed one day.

Sharp needle.

More letters to come.

Crochet Half Granny Shawl

Found a patten in an old magazine. Mistakes galore. I changed it up to work for me. I did my own edging, didn't even look at the pattern.

Red Heart Super Saver Warm Brown as the main color, Buff as the light color and boarder.
Size I hook.

Threw a teal small throw over the dress form for contrast. I was too lazy to change her.

Zentangle Birthday Cake

Took a page from a kids coloring book to zentangle in.  Great way too start without starring at a blank page.

Pineapple Doily Pillow

I didn't follow a pattern and it shows. Had to be blocked.  Used size 3 thread and an F hook.  Rainy day, so I used a filter to show it more white,  which it is.

I  decided it wouldn't lie flat. Looking around photos on Instagram, I saw someone sewing a doily on a pillow. I found a16 inch pillow form, sewed a cover and then sewed the doily on the fabric cover.  #crochet #crochetdoily

10 Inch Crochet Dishcloth

Embroidery Kitchen Towel

Embroidery on a cheap towel to match my kitchen decor. I haven't done embroidery forever, so it's a first try. I did have thread that came in the collection I bought to match my crochet dishcloth.
